CANDI NGAWEN


Candhi Budha ini berada di desa Ngawen kecamatan Muntilan sekitar 5 km ke arah tenggara dari candi Mendut sebelah kiri jalan ke rute Sendangsono. Candi ini dibangun pada abad ke 8 oleh dinasti Syailendra sapaerti tersebut dalam Prasasti Karang Tengah tahun 824 M. candi Ngawen memiliki 5 buah candi kecil yang setiap sudutnya dihiasi oleh patung singa penjaga candi dan wihara Pangeran Sidharta menunggu nirwana. Relief candi Ngawen masih jelas terukir indah tentang Kinara-Kinari ( sang penghibur Dewa di Kahyangan ), Kalamakara ( Dewa Waktu )  dan D hyani Budha Ratnasambhawa dengan sikap tangan Wara Mudra ( Budha memberi berkah).









NGAWEN TEMPLE


This budhist temple is located at Ngawen village, Muntilan subdistrict it is around 5 kilometres from the site of Borobudur temple southeast wardand on the leftside of the route to Sendangsono-a hloy place for Catholics at Kulon Progo Regency. Ngawen temple was bulit at the 8 th Century by Syailendra dynasti as mentioned in Karang Tengah subscribe stone 824 AD,. Ngawen Temple has (five) perwara or small temples and each corner has a lion symbol. The guard of the temple and Sidharta’s vehicle. The pictorial carvings of Ngawen Temple are still beautifully carved. They are about Kinara Kinari (God and Godess’s entertainer in paradise). Kalamakara (God of time) and Dyani Buddha or meditating Buddha with Waramudra (charity giving) handpose.
